Toward the end of World War II, two men developed a machine to dig holes for utility poles. It was run by the truck's power-take-off and utilized a Ford differential to turn the auger. The entire machine was suspended from the end of a boom and required only two men to dig a hole for a utility pole - revolutionary in a time when large crews, spades, shovels, bars, and jabbers were the norm. They formed a company to produce their invention and named it Tel-E-Lect Product for the industries it was to serve - the Telephone and Electric Utilities. Since then, our company has pioneered numerous innovations, many of which are now used throughout the industry. |
